What an exciting performance - two great pieces from you, Timothy!
To recap:
Lark -
- hold fermatas over notes/rests longer to build the suspense (sorry about my D natural musical typo!)
- consider the use of una corda at full and half depth for a more ethereal tone as needed/indicated in score
- Andantino: go to count 1 and project the peak of crescendos, as well as any. middle voicing (this applies to m35 onwards also)
- excellent use of rubato throughout, very expressive
Rach -
- experiment with rhythmic pedal, in addition to syncopated
- maintain crescendos until the last possible moment to build the tension before decreasing the volume
- make the top melodic line sing out, even during decrescendos, in meno mosso (lyrical)
- consider a slight rubato before Tempo 1 in c minor
- play with the balance in the final phrase so that the left hand cadence points are noticed
- a very rhythmic and vibrant performance!
